Four Garden Club of Denver members – Bar C., Priscilla L., Janet M., Debra P. and two guests, Cora L. and Ken P. – participated in this amazing trip.
Our days were packed with great tours, fun lunches, dinners, and teas. Our tour began in Providence, RI, moving on to a one day trip to Block Island. We managed a quick stop at my Block Island home to enjoy our view of Fresh Pond. Lunch and a stop at the Southeast Lighthouse rounded out our day on Block Island.
The main focus of the trip was The Newport Flower Show at Rosecliff Mansion, and it did not disappoint! There were fabulous floral arrangements, horticulture, Ferry Gardens and of course, shopping. This day also included a tour of the Marble House, with lunch at the Chinese Tea House.
The remainder of the trip included tours of the Green Animals Topiary Garden and Blithewold Manor and Gardens where we enjoyed another wonderful tea, and a tour of Rough Point, the home of Doris Duke. The tour included insight into her life and philanthropy. We also enjoyed an evening harbor tour aboard the Rum Runner II.
Our trip concluded with dinner at Laforge Casino Restaurant, on the grounds of the Tennis Hall of Fame. A fun time was had by all! Art and Bloom Garden Tours did a wonderful job of coordinating and organizing the trip.-Story and photos by Debra P.
